South A2 Premiers The 2nds worked extremely hard in their Grand Final against Cheltenham. Cheltenham got off to a great start putting on 52 for the 1st wicket after being sent in; they were looking even more comfortable at 4 for 144 after 60 overs. Finally Ports bowlers started putting the ball in the right areas and picked up 6 for 20 to have Cheltenham all out for 164 off 89 overs. The pick of the bowlers was Junior Snow who took 4/30 off 22 overs; he was well supported by The General (Nadeem Amin) who picked up 2 wickets and Alec Hill who also picked up 2/31 off 17 overs.

Port with the bat had the ability to make Geoff Boycott look like Adam Gilchrist as they set about the task of putting 165 on the board. Simon Thompson (24 off 48 overs), Baj Manoharan (36 from 59 overs) and the master of concentration Craig Fussell (23 runs from 73 overs), led the way to get port to 9/161 off 110 overs. The partnership of the match then began as Danny James (59) and Luke Holman (11no) put together a 78 run 10th wicket stand to put Port right on top. Port had Cheltenham 2/10 on their 2nd innings over night and had the game wrapped up inside 90 minutes on the Sunday, bowling Cheltenham out for 70. Brad Rutz with his first bowl for the year mesmerised the boys from Chelt, finishing with 4/21.
