The highest score made by a Port team was 474 for 8 dec against Hawthorn during 1913-14 season. In the previous round, Malvern had scored 473 against Hawthorn. Port Melbourne duly declared as soon as that score was passed. Port won the match by 451 runs after rolling Hawthorn for 23 all out in the first innnigs and have them done for 96/8 in the second.
